Overview

Thanks for your interest in BetterBites. When you use BetterBites you are trusting us with your information. We understand this is a big responsibility and work hard to protect your information and put you in control. This Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand how the BetterBites mobile app (“BetterBites”) uses your information — after obtaining your permission to do so — and how BetterBites empowers you to choose which information you share.

To Better Health, LLC owns and operates BetterBites. This Privacy Policy explains our policy regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information. As we update and expand our services, this policy may change, so please refer back to it periodically. By using BetterBites, and the services contained therein, you consent to our information practices.

Third Party Partners

BetterBites contains integrations to services operated by third parties, such as Apple’s App Store, whose policies regarding the handling of personal information may differ from ours. While we endeavor to associate with reputable third parties whose privacy policies are equivalent to or better than our own, To Better Health, LLC cannot be responsible for the information handling practices of these third parties. However, if we learn that one of our partners’ privacy practices are not meeting our standards, and that partner is unwilling or unable to bring their privacy practices up to our standards, we reserve the right to replace that partner with an alternate partner or solution that does meet our privacy standards.

Data Collection and Use

We know data privacy is important to you. As a result, we strive to minimize data collection overall and anonymize data collected wherever possible (so that data collected from your device neither identifies you nor your device).

Account Creation

To streamline the process of creating a BetterBites account and eliminate the need to fill out forms or choose passwords, we use a service offered by Apple called Sign in with Apple. When you initially create your BetterBites account, we will collect your name and email address for the purpose of communicating with you periodically, including contacting you about your subscription or upcoming services that may be of interest. Account Login

To streamline the process of logging into BetterBites while protecting your privacy, we use a service offered by Apple called Sign in with Apple. Via this service you can sign-in quickly and securely to BetterBites using the Apple ID that you already have. Note: this process does not share any information about your Apple ID with BetterBites. Subscription Management

As BetterBites is a paid service, we periodically need to process your payments when you purchase or renew your subscription. To handle this in an efficient, private, and secure manner, we use a service offered by Apple called Apple Pay. Thus, BetterBites does not collect or store your payment information. All of your payment transactions are handled directly between you and Apple via Apple Pay. Analytics

To improve the features and functionality of BetterBites, we periodically collect information from your device about the efficiency, responsiveness, and operation of BetterBites. The information we collect does not contain your personal data and does not identify you or your device. Further this anonymous data is aggregated with anonymous data from other users so that we can analyze trends and patterns that will enable us to streamline our app, add new convenience features, and improve the overall user experience.

Data Provided By You

BetterBites allows you to input data you choose to share with the app. Your data is stored on your device and is backed up to iCloud where it is protected and secured (providing you have enabled iCloud Backup on your device). Any information you input in connection with this app is stored in encrypted form and protected with your passcode on your device (providing that you have enabled Passcode protection on your device). If you choose to include any health data, this information will be encrypted while associated with the app by the aforementioned means. If you decide to delete the app, your data will also be deleted.

The BetterBites app will provide you with information about your scanned or manually-entered health, food or beverage information. With your consent, the location of your device may also be used to provide geographically-relevant services (such as suggesting items from Chipotle’s menu — as you log your meal information — when the app detects that you are in a Chipotle restaurant).

At all times, information collected by the BetterBites app will be treated in accordance with the BetterBites Privacy Policy, Apple App Store guidelines and applicable laws.

Disclosure

Except as otherwise disclosed in this policy, we will not sell, rent, or disclose your personal information nor any data collected from your device (collectively referred to as “User Data”) to third parties without notifying you of our intent to share the User Data in advance and giving you an opportunity to prevent the User Data from being shared. Specifically:

• The User Data will not be used for tracking purposes. It will not be linked with Third-Party Data for advertising or advertising measurement purposes, nor shared with a data broker. The User Data will not be used for Third-Party Advertising, or Third-Party Marketing purposes.
• The User Data may be used, with your permission, to periodically share BetterBites Special Offers and Promotions with you, and you can enable/disable this functionality at any time within the app.
• The User Data may need to be disclosed in order to comply with applicable laws, and where permitted to do so, we will inform you of such disclosures.

Types of Data

Data types collected in the app include:

• Contact Information: such as name and email address.
• Location Data: precise or coarse location if access to location data is specifically granted by you and location services are enabled on the device. Location, device identifiers, and other sensitive data are used, but only on device, and the data is never sent to a server. Coarse Location is collected, and may be shared with our Third Party Partners as needed to provide geographically-relevant services to you (such as suggesting items from Chipotle’s menu — as you log your meal information — when the app detects that you are in a Chipotle restaurant).
• Exercise Data: With your permission, BetterBites will log your exercise information (“Move” or calories burned only) to your device and read your exercise information (“Move” or calories burned only) from your device for the purpose of displaying this information within BetterBites for your convenience.
• Browsing History: No browsing history outside of the app is monitored or stored.
• Search History: Search history is collected about searches performed in the app to help with app analytics, functionality and performance.
• Identifiers: No information that identifies you or your device will be transmitted off of your device or shared with any Third Parties, without your direction or consent.
• Anonymous Usage Data: Anonymous product interaction data that will help us improve BetterBites functionality includes app launches, launch duration, feature execution, feature execution duration, and other information about anonymous user activity in the app.
• Anonymous Diagnostics Information: Information that will help us diagnose, troubleshoot, and enhance application functionality will be collected (in anonymized form only — that neither identifies you nor your device) and may include the following:
• Crash Data including crash logs
• Performance Data including launch time, hang rate, or energy use
• Other Diagnostic Data including any other data collected for the purposes of measuring technical diagnostics related to the app
